About Us

We are a group of students from the University of Florida (USA) studying abroad at the Istituto Sant'Anna in Sorrento, Italy. We have different majors and backgrounds but are exploring Sorrento together. This blog is a collection of our research and discovery of the city of Sorrento, which we have produced this as part of the course "Multidisciplinary Perspectives on the Bay of Naples." We would like to thank our faculty, the staff at the Sant'Anna Institute, and the people of Sorrento for their generous assistance in helping us understand the geography, history and traditions of the city and its surroundings.

About Our Faculty

san martino2.jpg

Paloma Rodriguez created the UF in Sorrento program in 2018 has been the faculty leader for this program ever since. She has a background in Classics and studied abroad at the Istituto Orientale di Napoli as part of her graduate education. She enjoys providing UF students with the opportunity to explore the Bay of Naples. She is currently the Director of the Office of Global Learning at the UF International Centers, where she supervises the International Scholars Program and several faculty development initiatives.

We are very grateful to the faculty and staff at the Istituto Sant'Anna who visited our class to provide informative lectures about key aspects of the Bay of Naples. Their input has helped us understand the territory, its history and the issues affecting it. Some of us are also enjoying taking full courses with Sant'Anna faculty on Marine Biology, History of the Mafia and Competing in the Global Environment. We are very appreciative of Prof. Domenico Sgambati, Prof. Fabrizio Novellino and Prof. Davide de Gennaro for sharing their knowledge with us.
